Point Cloud Surface

Point clouds actually belong to the daily cycle of data processing, and the demands for simpler and simpler functionalities are increasing day by day.

Analist integrates a very simple feature that allows you to create a mesh of triangles from a point cloud by applying a sampling grid and a vegetation removal filter. The result is a mesh of small dimensions that can be processed for the calculation of surface and volume, from which sections, profiles, contour lines etc can be extracted.

The control parameters are very simple and will contain new management elements in the future.

When acquiring with a lidar sensor, such as DJI’s L1, the vegetation simplification and removal functionality is particularly efficient and accurate. The size of the grid must be chosen carefully in order to obtain a simplified model which is still representative of the underlying surface. In later versions it is foreseen to process Lidar clouds taking into account the return echo.
