The understanding of the “Model” is essential in order to fully exploit all Analist potential.

A model is simply a group of layers. In real situations drawings include entities spread on layers which are distinguished in order to better organise the project.

For example, a topographic survey of the land may contain 3D points on the 3D-Points layer, lines to represent the discontinuity of the land in 3D-Road and lines or two-dimensional polylines to record the properties on the 2D-Properties layer.

To enable Analist to create a TIN model (three-dimensional triangles) it is necessary to create a terrain model, assign the most simple name (for example Terrain) and include the 3D-Ponts and 3D-Road layers. It is not necessary to include the 2D-Properties as its entities are not part of the TIN model creation.

Many Analist commands request the identification of a model in order to obtain results.
